Shortlisting & Merit Rules

Ssb Screening

Stage I at SSB — non-qualifying candidates returned on Day 1

Written To SSB

Based on written exam marks — separate cut-offs for each wing. Only candidates meeting minimum marks called for SSB.

Wing Allocation

Based on final merit rank and candidate preference. Air Force has additional CPSS (Computerized Pilot Selection System) and PABT (Pilot Aptitude Battery Test).

Final Merit Basis

Written (900 marks) + SSB Interview (900 marks) = Total 1800 marks. Separate merit lists for Army, Navy, Air Force wings.

Public Disclosure Policy

Disqualification Rule

Candidates must be unmarried male. Marriage during training leads to removal. False information at any stage leads to disqualification and potential withdrawal of commission.

Important Warnings

NDA is held twice a year (NDA-I and NDA-II). Only unmarried male candidates eligible.
Mathematics paper is Class 12 level — strong preparation in Math is essential for a good score.
SSB Interview carries equal weightage (900 marks) as the written exam — personality development is crucial.
Air Force candidates must additionally clear CPSS and PABT tests at AFSBs.
Medical standards are strict — eyesight (6/6 in each eye for AFA, 6/6 and 6/9 for IMA/INA), no color blindness.
NDA provides free education, boarding, and training — one of the best career options after 12th.
Training is 3 years at NDA Khadakwasla, Pune + 1 year at respective service academy.
Cadets receive a degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) upon successful completion of NDA training.
